Hello All! We hope you have all had a wonderful week...TGIF :)
This week we have found some very interesting articles, ranging from: a 4 year old fashion designer to traveling tips for a long flight. One of my favorite articles this week is, "‘Dad Bod’ Is a Sexist Atrocity". This piece was found at time.com. I over heard this topic being discussed on the news and on a talk show...so I had to check it out for myself.
In short, this entry discusses the acceptance and even attraction to the 'dad bod'. The 'dad bod' is described as, "I go to the gym occasionally, but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time." The topic starts to heat up as men are 'given a pass' to look this way and women, may times mothers, feel the pressure to drop weight, eat healthy everyday, and basically look perfect...a double standard.
As a woman, I can say I too, feel the pressure to get fit and stay that way. I don't eat as much junk as my husband. I work out much more than my husband does. I believe it is important to be healthy but I think many times women strive to have the perfect body. I am all for eating right and taking care of ourselves, but I think we need to give ourselves a break too. It's ok to have a sweet treat, skip the gym, and stop obsessing over the size of your jeans.
Hopefully this article will help moms relax and embrace that little extra curve you have. If the 'dad bod' is hot, I say we all get on board with the 'mom bod!' Take a break, enjoy your day, and for all the moms out there...Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy issue #35.
