As a parent, we want what is best for our children. In our efforts to provide our children with a positive upbringing, we worry we might be doing something wrong. We worry about our children’s safety. We worry about bullying, Ebola, vaccinations, does my child have friends, did I read enough to my child, and the list continues. We, as parents, spend a lot of time worrying.
I remember when I was pregnant with my son. We had to have a couple extra tests done regarding his development in utero. Thankfully, we found out he was a healthy baby boy. I called my dad and told him, ‘thank goodness, I don’t have to worry any more.” My dad laughed and said, ‘welcome to parenthood! You will worry for the rest of your life about your children.’ I now know he is right. We worry about the things we care about and we all care deeply for our children. It's ok to worry but don’t let it consume you. Take a deep breath. Talk to another mommy friend about your worries---I know they will understand, in fact they have probably worried about the same things you are! And lastly, hopefully this week’s articles will help alleviate some of your worries. Enjoy reading! - Darling Weekly
