Hello weekly readers! Here comes the weekend, Yippie!

Something I hear over and over since having kids is: 'enjoy every moment' and 'be present." I understand why people say these two phrases. The time goes by so quickly. We are often so tried, very busy--that it is hard to do either suggestion. OR sometimes there are moments that are very hard to enjoy. For example, the meltdown in Kohl's last week or a long difficult grocery trip with two kids. It is unrealistic to 'enjoy everything' and 'be present' for every moment (good, bad, or indifferent).

However, I do think it is important to TRY to do this a few times a day. The other evening, as I was nursing my almost 3 month old daughter to sleep, I made it a point to do BOTH! As I held her, I took a deep breath and simply enjoyed this quiet, calm moment. I also focused on being present. I listened to her breathe, I felt her heartbeat against my chest, I watched her eyes slowly close...it was a really sweet moment (I tear up a little as I write this). It felt so good to be right there with her, no just physically but mentally. I blocked everything else out and just focused on her. The best feeling ever!!!

We can't do it all. We can't love it all. But it does feel good when we can really 'be present' and 'enjoy a moment'! Have a great weekend and take the time to clear your mind and focus on something positive---if just for a few minutes. Here's to issue #86!
